We begin our tour in San Diego and once across the border guests will enjoy breath taking views of the Pacific Ocean as they make their way through vibrant Mexican villages to the Valle de Guadalupe. Once a Russian settlement, Valle de Guadalupe is one of Mexico’s oldest wine country offering some of the country’s best wines. We will visit three wineries; Adobe Guadalupe, Monte Xanic, Lacienega – wine tasting and education will follow.

This tour is the perfect one-day weekend getaway and it’s far from your average adventure into Baja.

We leave our Downtown San Diego Location and walk to Karl Strauss brewery, known for its local IPA’s. We will do beer tasting with a quick explanation of the plant and brewery process. We will continue and see sights of Downtown and continue to Rock Bottom Brewery for a quick stop at their various brews and then continue to the Yard House to see and taste 50 different selections of beer on tap! We end our tour at the new downtown hangout, the Beer Co, to taste some local spots. We will continue and end tour at our favorite night spot Altitude!

Including travel time, the tour is approximately 3 p.m. until midnight. Access to the observatory will be by bus only and is included in the price of the tour. No private vehicles are permitted. There are two pick-up locations: San Diego and Escondido. All activities are subject to weather and operational requirements. A portion of the fee for these tours supports Palomar Observatory’s new educational exhibits.

Dinner is not included with the cost of your tour. You may bring your own bag dinner and refreshments or purchase a brown bag dinner from the Fleet Science Center. Dinners include your choice of a sandwich, 2 sides and a drink for $9 and will be waiting for you at your designated pick-up location. Dinner orders must be placed 48 hours in advance of your tour. NOTE: These tours are appropriate for ages 10 and up. Remember to dress warmly and wear comfortable shoes. The tour consists of standing and walking, including relatively rough terrain and tight staircases. If you require assistance during a Palomar tour, accommodations can be arranged. Please be sure to let us know when booking your reservation. Confirmations and directions to pickup locations are mailed in advance.

Cancellation Policy: Requests for refunds must be made at least one week prior to the tour date and will be charged a 20% processing fee. If you cancel within one week, no refund will be issued.

 Flower Fields Ranunculus Tours. Every year from early March to early May, The Flower Fields at Carlsbad Ranch blossom into a spectacular sea of brightly colored ranunculus flowers. Visitors can view and tour the fields in Carlsbad. Open to the public seven days a week, 9am to 6pm. Interstate 5 to Palomar Airport Road Exit. Head east one block and turn left on Paseo Del Norte. Make a right into the first driveway. Guided tours must be arranged in advance.
