The Holiday of Lights at Del Mar is the largest animated drive-through light show on the west coast. Over 400 sparkling, twinkling, lively displays located around the racetrack at Del Mar will delight your family. Make it your holiday tradition.

Hours:
Sundays-Thursdays, 5:30 – 10:00 pm
Fridays and Saturdays, 5:30 – 10:30 pm
Closed three Mondays: Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12

Because of safety concerns, motorcycles and other two-wheeled vehicles are not permitted to tour Holiday of Lights.

What is the Holiday of Lights?
The Holiday of Lights at the Del Mar Fairgrounds is a spectacular drive-through light show and exhibit, themed for the holiday season, with more than 400 crowd-pleasing, family-oriented displays. The displays are organized into themes, which include: Candy Cane Lane, Toyland, San Diego County Fair, Treasures by the Lake, Del Mar Racetrack, the Twelve Days of Christmas and Elves at Play.

How do people view the displays?
Visitors view the lighted and animated holiday creations from the comfort of their vehicles as they drive along a 1.5-mile route through the Fairgrounds while enjoying festive holiday music.

How many displays are there?
About 400 lighted and animated displays.

How long does it take to view the displays?
It takes most visitors 15-20 minutes to complete one trip around the route and view all of the displays.

How long does it take to set up the displays?
Set-up takes about one month, starting in late October.

Pacific Life Holiday Bowl

The University of Arizona Wildcats and University of Nebraska Cornhuskers will square off in the 32nd annual Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. The game kicks off at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30th at Qualcomm Stadium, and will air nationally on ESPN as well as being broadcast on ESPN Radio Network. 

Tickets 

Tickets to the 2009 Pacific Life Holiday Bowl are now on sale to the general public. They may be purchased in person at the Holiday Bowl ticket office at Qualcomm Stadium (M-F, 8:30-5), over the phone at (619) 283-5808, or on-line. On-line purchases, however, are through Ticketmaster and do not include membership benefits.

Holiday Boat Parade of Lights Dinner Cruise

Balboa Park December Nights

San Diego’s favorite kick-off to the holiday season, takes place over two days in Balboa Park. In the spirit of the holidays, participating Balboa Park museums open their doors free of charge from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. both evenings. The largest free community festival in San Diego, December Nights is expected to attract more than 300,000 visitors over two days.
