			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong>11/15/11 – 2/19/12</strong></p>
<p>The Andrés Blaisten Collection is one of the premiere collections of 20th-century Mexican art. Assembled over the last 25 years, the collection normally resides at its permanent home at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco. This exhibition features a selection of 80 paintings dated between 1907 and 1962 from this renowned collection as part of a traveling tour of the Blaisten Collection. The exhibited artists include well-known painters María Izquierdo, Diego Rivera, David Alfaro Siqueiros, Rufino Tamayo, and many others. In addition to these important painters, there are several painters with works in the exhibition that might be new to San Diego audiences such as Alfonso Michel, Federico Cantú, and Angel Zárraga.</p>
<p>Mexican Modern Painting is organized by Phoenix Art Museum, The San Diego Museum of Art and the Meadows Museum at Southern Methodist University in conjunction with the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco at the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, in Mexico City where the collection is permanently housed.</p>
<p>Major support is provided by Roy Polatchek,Torrey Pines Bank, Wells Fargo, and the Latin American Arts Council of The San Diego Museum of Art.</p>
<p>Additional generous funding is provided by Ms. Dana Baldwin, Mr. Tom Gildred, Drs. Jacki Johnson and Ken Widder, Lisa Zinne, Victor Galvez, and Morgan Stanley Smith Barney.</p>

<p><a  href="http://www.northparkfestivalofarts.com/north_park_festival_of_the_arts_festivities.html">The 14th Annual North Park Festival of the Arts </a>will take place on Sunday, May 16th, 2010 from 10:00 AM through 6:00 PM on University between 30th and 32nd Street. Whether you are looking for live music, exciting dance moves, vendor booths, fabulous food, a little something to entertain and educate the kids, or of course, amazing artwork from around the globe, you are sure to find hours of fun and exciting things to wow and delight you and your whole family!</p>
<p>One of the best parts of a street festival are the vendors and the North Park Festival of the Arts delivers with over 100 specialty booths filled with thousands of treasures. Peruse all types of hand made crafts, unique décor items and everything in between. Also, be sure to stop into the International Food Court to sample delicious and aromatic foods, cool and tantalizing drinks and desserts from dozens of local restaurants and specialty caterers.</p>
<p>The North Park Festival of the Arts will be rocking the historic neighborhood all day long with every type of musical genre and interactive entertainment on SIX stages!  The Main Stage will blow you away featuring talented artists like rising star Josh Damigo, unique sounds of Republic of Letters and Wirepony. </p>
<p>Peruse the Artists’ Village where artisans display and sell their amazing creations from every imaginable medium. Painters from the worlds of oils and acrylics along with impressionists and ethereal watercolorists will exhibit alongside sculptors of clay, metal and ceramics. Take in the intricate detail of pencil and chalk drawings or be amazed at the rich and textured technique of encaustic painting. </p>
<p>The North Park Festival of the Arts is one of San Diego’s favorite family friendly events and there’s no wonder why. Featuring blocks of flavorful food, shopping and entertainment, this annual event draws more than 35,000 people and the Kid’s Art Beat Area is a crowd favorite!</p>
<p>For everyone over 21, we are excited to present the newest feature to the festival, the Craft Beer Block!  From noon to 6:00 PM on Ohio Street, beer and foodie lovers alike will experience a taste of the senses by sampling a wide assortment of rich local and international brews, robust and refreshing wines and mouthwatering bites from local North Park restaurants.</p>
